Afrinnovative Youth Competition: A Showcase of Creativity and Impact Across Seven Nations
The Afrinnovative Youth Competition (AYC) at the regional level was an inspiring finale to a series of country-level competitions held across Africa. This grand event brought together exceptional projects from seven countries: Togo, Tanzania, Uganda, South Africa, Ivory Coast, DRC and Burkina Faso, with each participant representing their home nation.
The competition was implemented by JA Africa, a renowned organization empowering youth across the continent, with E3Empower Tanzania serving as the implementer in Tanzania. The event was made possible through the generous sponsorship of ZZF Foundation from Zurich, which played a pivotal role in supporting these transformative youth-led initiatives.
Highlights from the Competition
Participants showcased innovative solutions addressing key challenges in their communities, ranging from technology and education to healthcare and sustainability. Here are the standout projects from each country:
- Togo: Chemical-free culinary broth made from fruits and Vegetables, “CARESOUP”
- Tanzania: Revolutionizing poultry farming with innovative egg Incubator, “Smart EGG Incubator”
- Uganda: Portable solar-powered purification system to ensure clean drinking water, “SAFISHA”
- South Africa: Addressing critical road safety issues with Innovative solutions, “Gen 5 Tech”
- Cote d’Ivoire: Dedicated to make Travel Easy and Accessible, “Easy Travel Les Campus App “
- Burkina Faso: Redefining how we respond to vehicle emergencies, “DEPANN’R Mobile App.”
- DRC: Cereal-based porridge, enriched with soy and caterpillars to combat Malnutrition, “TOLIA Bio”
Prizes and Awards
The competition celebrated innovation and impact with the following awards:
- Grand Prize (Winner): $5,000, awarded to [Uganda/SAFISHA].
- Innovative Idea Award: $1,000, presented to the South Africa project (GEN 5 Tech)
- Impact Idea Award: $1,000, awarded to the Tanzania project (Smart Egg Incubator)
A Grand Finale of Innovation
The regional competition marked the final AYC event, concluding a series of national-level competitions held in each participating country.
